The relatively dense tannins are actually fairly refined for the appellation but this will still require at least 15 years to be at its best

d'Arenberg, Dead Arm Shiraz Vintage:2001 The palate is medium-bodied withThe first foot trodden vintage. Harvested 28 February to 28 March following a hot January, dry summer and autumn. Of its era, blackcurrant fruit gums and sweet blackberry fruit are front and centre, with a lick of boot polish, mint and sage aromas and a peppery finish. Initially rich and velvety with charred oak which is a touch dry and starting to penetrate the viscosity. Lacks the structure and nuance of more recent vintages.
